The Unger Soot master sponge SP060 is a specialized dry cleaning sponge made of natural rubber. It is designed to lift and absorb dry contaminants like soot, smoke residue, and dust from surfaces without smearing or using water. The sponge is often used by restoration professionals for cleaning after fire or smoke damage.

Product features

Dry cleaning: The sponge is used completely dry. Its unique porous structure traps dirt particles and draws them into the sponge's cells, much like a large eraser.

Reusable: The sponge can be cleaned with mild soap and water once it becomes saturated. After washing, it must be allowed to air-dry completely before being used again.

Cuttable: It can be cut into smaller pieces with a sharp blade or utility knife to expose a fresh, clean surface when the outer layer gets soiled.

Safe for various surfaces: It is non-toxic and can be used on delicate items without leaving residue. It is safe for painted walls, ceilings, acoustic tiles, wallpaper, fabrics, and even antique books and oil paintings.

Dimensions: It typically measures 6" (15.2 cm) long, 3" (7.6 cm) wide, and 2" (5.1 cm) thick.

Compatibility: It can be attached to the Fixi-Clamp (FIXI0) for reaching high or difficult areas.

How to use

Prepare the area: Before using the sponge, put on protective gear like a mask and gloves. Lay down drop cloths or tarps to protect furniture and floors from falling debris.

Start at the top: Begin wiping from the top of the surface (e.g., the ceiling) and work your way down. This prevents loose soot from settling on areas you have already cleaned.

Wipe, don't scrub: Use gentle, straight, and overlapping strokes. Avoid scrubbing, as this can smear the soot deeper into the surface.

Rotate and refresh the sponge: As the sponge's surface becomes black with absorbed soot, rotate it to use a clean section. When all sides are dirty, you can cut a thin layer off with a sharp blade to reveal a fresh surface.

Wash and dry: When fully soiled, wash the sponge with mild soap and warm water. It must be air-dried completely before its next use.
